Will graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 2021 where he avidly and successfully participated in the mock trial program.  Will joined the Order of the Coif, an honor reserved for those graduating in the top 10% of the class, and the Order of the Barristers, a recognition bestowed only upon the top ten trial advocates of each graduating class.

From watching and listening to his father practicing law as a young child, to serving as captain of his high school debate team, to adapting to virtually arguing via Zoom in law school, Will’s entire life prepared him to litigate. Within weeks of being licensed, Will cross examined a doctor, a lawyer, and began handling all the arguments and witnesses in his divorces and civil litigation cases. Will additionally sat second chair with Jeff in final arbitrations and bench trials within months of becoming a lawyer. Since then, as lead counsel, Will successfully tried cases and prevailed on motions for summary judgments from Tarrant County on paternity to Rockwall County on specific performance. Will’s practice includes an emphasis on family law cases, but he enjoys working on the smorgasbord of the firm’s civil litigation matters, including an ever-growing docket of equine disputes. His wife claims Will handles horses and divorces (she just likes how that rolls off the tongue.)

Will tries cases in all counties of the DFW area, including Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Parker, Collin, Rockwall, and Wise. But he will travel all over Texas to fight for his clients.

Will met his wife, Elizabeth Vineyard Cook, while undergraduates at the University of Texas.  Will learned through a lifetime of cheering for the Cowboys and Longhorns that football only causes pain in the end, so now he spends his falls hunting.

Will guides upland bird hunts in Texas and Rocky Mountain Elk hunts in Colorado on the Double A Ranch. He owns and trains Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. His dog, Hellie, retrieved over 1,400 birds before turning two years old. Will prides himself on being accessible to clients, so he will take calls in the duck blind as long as the caller accepts the risk of being interrupted by shotgun fire. Will hunts internationally with his father from the Arctic Circle to the southern tip of Africa.

When not hunting or practicing law, you will find Will on a horse.  For his first job, other than opening gates, he worked for Widowmaker Trail Rides as a wrangler. Will grew up riding a blanket Appaloosa, Cash, and currently rides his leopard Appaloosa, Dollar. As a lifetime member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Will supports the beauty of the American West and her animals.

Will and Elizabeth’s son, Hayes, born March 2024, remains a few years away from being the next Cook boy to join the firm. Their daughter, Clara, born August 2025, will hopefully decide to someday bring some feminine ferocity to our practice.
